Monday after Poole Windfest!

Met up wuth  Adam Sims and Austrian freestyle weapon Hanna Poschinger for a cheeky little session at Weymouth on Monday after Windfest as the wind was forecast to be sick. Even though it was really gusty ranging from over powered on 4.2 to under powered on 5.3, in the end it settled somewhere in between.

We managed to have a good session,  taking some more amazing high definition pics with Adams new cannon 550D which is so so good. If any relatives are reading this - great idea for Christmas haha!

Windfest 2011

Last weekend was the final event of the UKWA freestyle tour and it was the first windfest that I have been to where there has been wind!! Three full eliminations were held over Saturday and Sunday and having already totalled enough points across the series to have already won the 2011 UK Junior Freestyle National title I thought I would try competing in the Pro fleet at this event.

I managed to get 5th which I am super happy about and I really enjoyed competing against the UK’s best freestylers;  so next year I’m going to sail in this fleet to try and push my freestyle to the next level.

To finish an amazing weekend and 2011 freestyle tour I was also awarded the Andy Funell trophy by Trevor Funell given with a very touching speech about my potential windsurfing future – I have a lot to live up to now!  Especially as other people that have been awarded the trophy include windsurfing greats such as Dave White, Bryony Shaw, Timo Mullen and John Skye……how awesome is that!!!

National Windsurfing Festival 2011

The weekend last was NWF 2011 with promise of a sick party and great wind it was looking like it was gonna be an awesome week end.  I always look forward to NWF as its one of the most fun events of the year and a great place to meet up with all the windsurfing faces and this year didn’t disappoint.  It was really fun doing the master blaster races and checking out the new kit the brands had to offer, I also qualified for the night windsurf tow-in freestyle competition.

This competition was one of the coolest things I have ever done, being towed at 25mph in the dark then throwing our biggest moves into waist deep water in front of a cheering crowd was sick!  I was really happy to come 3rd overall!
On Sunday there was 18-20 knots perfect for a fully stoked freestyle comp in which I was pleased to land some of my high scoring moves like shakas and it was good to see the freestyle gaining such popularity!
